1. About QuarterBridge
QuarterBridge is a Making Tax Digital (MTD) bridging software service that enables sole traders and landlords to submit quarterly income and expense updates to HMRC using their existing spreadsheets. By creating an account and using our Service, you agree to these terms.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must be a UK taxpayer with a valid HMRC Government Gateway account
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the financial data you upload and submit
3. Your Account
- You must provide accurate and complete registration information
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your password
- You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
- One account per individual — do not create multiple accounts
4. The Service
QuarterBridge provides:
- A wizard to upload, map, and submit your income and expense data to HMRC
- Support for Excel (.xlsx, .xls), CSV, TSV, Apple Numbers (.numbers), ODS, and Google Sheets
- Auto-detection and manual mapping of spreadsheet columns to HMRC categories
- Submission history, audit reports, and download summaries
5. What QuarterBridge Is Not
QuarterBridge is not an accountancy service and does not provide tax advice.
- We do not verify the accuracy of your financial records
- We do not calculate your tax liability (any estimates shown are from HMRC's own calculations)
- We are not responsible for any penalties, fines, or consequences arising from incorrect data you submit
- You are solely responsible for maintaining accurate business records as required by HMRC
6. Subscription & Billing
- Our Service is provided on a monthly subscription basis
- Pricing is as displayed on our website at the time of purchase
- Payments are processed securely by Stripe — we never see your card details
- Subscriptions auto-renew each month unless cancelled
- You can cancel at any time via the billing portal — access continues until the end of your billing period
- Refunds are available within 14 days of first purchase if you haven't made an HMRC submission
7. Plan Limits
- Starter: One income type (either Self-Employment or Property)
- Landlord Pro: Both income types, unlimited submissions
Attempting to circumvent plan limits may result in account suspension.
8. HMRC Connection
- You authorise QuarterBridge to act on your behalf when connecting to HMRC via OAuth
- You can disconnect from HMRC at any time via your dashboard
- HMRC access tokens are securely stored and automatically refreshed
- We submit only the data you review and confirm on the submission screen
9. Data & Privacy
Your data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Key points:
- Your spreadsheet files are processed in your browser — we never store the raw files on our servers
- Only summarised totals are submitted to HMRC
- You can delete your account and all associated data at any time
10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including tax fraud
- Submit false or misleading information to HMRC
- Attempt to access other users' data
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
- Resell or redistribute the Service without our permission
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- QuarterBridge is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim
- We are not responsible for HMRC system outages, delays, or errors on their end
12. Termination
- You may cancel your subscription and delete your account at any time
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms
- On termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
14. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
